LE MARCHE cont.
The Frasassi caves are amongst the most spectacular limestone caves in the world and the Furlo Gorge is a dramatic natural pass through the mountains that has been in use since prehistoric times.
Most of Italy's Adriatic coastline is flat with the exception of Monte Conero, just south of Ancona, a high limestone mountain that plunges into the sea and stands guard over a handful of delightful little bathing resorts.
The best mountain views are in the north of the region, on the doorstep of Urbino, around the giant Monte Catria. In spring the upland meadows are carpeted in alpine flowers.
Wherever you go in Le Marche, you’ll find breath-taking scenery and wonderful food. Come and see for yourselves.
